GATEWAY CUP 101

The 20th edition of the THF Realty Gateway Cup takes place in the heart of FOUR unique and awesome St. Louis neighborhoods.

Click here to read about how the Title Sponsor Michael Staenberg, CEO of THF Realty is involved with the Gateway Cup.

Within each of these host communities, the race course is a defined one mile lap and the race is known as a criterium. This Americanized style of racing appeals to both athletes and spectators alike as the peloton, or pack of cyclists, pass by every few minutes at impressive speeds holding lines only inches apart from one another. Spectators can watch the race develop lap after lap and hear commentators announce race strategy, allowing more of an understanding and involvement in the excitement.

There are five to six races each day based on ability, ranging from newbies to pros. Each day is punctuated by the feature event, the men’s Pro-Am race. In this race, 150 of the nation’s top cyclists will hurl themselves through corners averaging 30 mph towards a typically thrilling sprint finish. Guaranteed inspiration.

Medical Support

The participating athletes will be in great hands thanks to Dr. Bill Cragg and St. Louis Injury and Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Cragg and his staff have played an essential role on the Medical Teams for Tour of MO, Amgen Tour of California, Triathlon World Championships and the Olympic Marathon Trials. The staff works closely with the local area athletes at the high school, college and club levels.

Treatment for the elite and amateur athlete doesn’t differ. The focus, attention and professional service provided to our patients expedites the athlete’s return to a level of performance expected. The use of treatment modalities such as myofascial release techniques, spinal and extremity adjustments, kinesio taping, Graston and others helps athletes train better, reduce injuries, aids in daily recovery and prevent in-season interruptions caused by over-use syndromes.

Athletes of all ages, shapes and sizes, and performance abilities are welcome to call our office to find out how we may help. You may find us providing post-race recovery services at many local events. Check out our website for more information… www.slir.net.
